White Fungus is also known as Jelly Fungus, Silver Tree-ear Fungus or Snow Fungus. It is a type of jelly fungus (a kind of mushroom) that is used in Chinese cuisine. The fungus grows in frilly masses on trees and is off-white in color and very translucent. While tasteless, it is enjoyed for its jelly-like texture as well as its supposed medicinal benefits.
Directions:
Put the dried White Fungus in warm water until it becomes soft and enlarged. Tear into small pieces and wash with fresh water. Can be cooked with meat, vegetables or deserts.
